You already know the story of this production, because everyone was talking about it.

Jamie Lloyd's radical reimagining of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita took over London last summer, selling out its entire run at the Palladium and turning "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" into a nightly street-level event, with hundreds gathering outside the theater to watch Rachel Zegler sing from the balcony.

The production swept awards season, winning Zegler the Olivier for Best Actress in a Musical plus Best Musical at the Standard Theatre Awards and five WhatsOnStage Awards including Best Musical Revival. Now it lands at the Winter Garden, and Lloyd has promised a brand new staging of the big number, made especially for Broadway.

Evita charts the meteoric rise of Eva Perón, from illegitimate girl in provincial Argentina to actress, First Lady, and secular saint, all before her death at 33. In Lloyd's hands it becomes something closer to a rock concert crossed with a political rally, stripped down, thunderously choreographed, and built around a once-in-a-generation star turn. Zegler calls performing it in New York a chance to sing for her hometown, and you can feel it.

We'll meet for drinks and snacks nearby before the show, then settle in together. Field Trip events are intentionally small, so it's easy to actually meet people and have a real conversation.
