ABOUT FIELD TRIP

Finally, people to talk to at intermission.

You’re the one who always books the ticket. You saw the Off-Broadway play everyone’s about to discover, you know which museum exhibitions close this month, and you have opinions about the acceptable length of a one-act.

But your friends don’t always share the obsession, or they’re impossible to organize, and too many nights in New York end without anyone to talk to about what you just saw.

Field Trip is a New York City social club for people who already care deeply about the city’s arts and culture, and want friends who do, too.

We organize small-group outings to Broadway shows, Off-Broadway plays, museum exhibitions, gallery tours, and cultural events across NYC.

We handle the tickets and logistics. You just show up, meet people who are as excited to be there as you are, and have someone to talk to at intermission and on the subway home.

Matt, founder of Field Trip

Why I started Field Trip.

I'm Matt. I have a BFA in Dramaturgy, which is a fancy way of saying I spent years studying how stories work and why they matter. I lived inside the arts. I was surrounded by people who wanted to talk about what they'd just seen, what it made them feel, what it meant.

Then I started working in tech, and that world slowly disappeared.

Not because the art went away. New York never runs out of art. But the community around it did. I stopped going to shows. I stopped having those conversations. I missed the specific electricity of sitting in a theater with people and then walking out into the night buzzing with something to say.

So I started Field Trip. Because I believe art isn't just something you look at. It's something you experience, respond to, and grow from. And it's better when you do that with other people.

Field Trip is my way of rebuilding that community, one night out at a time.
