Galileo arrives at the Shubert Theatre this fall with a serious pedigree: a book by Danny Strong, an original score by Zoe Sarnak and Michael Weiner, and direction by Tony winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, American Idiot). The show premiered at Berkeley Rep in 2024, where it was extended before opening night due to popular demand, and now it makes its Broadway debut with four-time Tony nominee Raúl Esparza in the title role, his first Broadway appearance in more than 13 years, alongside Jeremy Kushnier and Tony nominee Joy Woods.

The story: when Galileo lifts his telescope to the sky and finds proof that the Earth is not the center of the universe, he's summoned to Rome to defend his discoveries before the most powerful institution on the planet. It's a collision of science and faith, truth and power, set to a soaring pop rock score. Four hundred years old, and somehow about right now.

We'll meet for drinks and snacks nearby before the show, then settle in together. Field Trip events are intentionally small, so it's easy to actually meet people and have a real conversation.
