Broadway by the Boardwalk: Mandy Gonzalez
Broadway powerhouse Mandy Gonzalez closes out the 2026 Broadway by the Boardwalk series, free on the waterfront with the Hudson at sunset.
Broadway by the Boardwalk: Mandy Gonzalez
When Broadway goes dark on Mondays, the waterfront lights up.
Hudson River Park's free Broadway by the Boardwalk series transforms the riverfront into an open-air stage with intimate performances from some of theater's biggest stars, set against sweeping sunset views of the Hudson. Closing out this year's series on August 10 is Mandy Gonzalez, known for her performances in Hamilton, In the Heights, Sunset Boulevard, and Wicked.
Gonzalez originated the role of Nina Rosario in the Off-Broadway and Broadway productions of In the Heights. She played Angelica Schuyler in the Broadway production of Hamilton for a six-year run, and won the Broadway.com Audience Award for Favorite Replacement soon after taking on the iconic role of Elphaba in Wicked. A frequent concert soloist, Gonzalez has performed with symphony orchestras around the world.
The night opens with Stepping into the Spotlight, an exciting new showcase featuring Broadway's next generation of stars. This special opening act will feature understudies from current Broadway productions and shine a light on the remarkable talent waiting in the wings. It's a rare chance to see tomorrow's Broadway stars today. On this date, the opener is Christopher James Tamayo from Maybe Happy Ending.
This is a free, low-key Field Trip community meetup, not a ticketed event. We'll claim a patch of the Clinton Cove lawn and gather as a group, so you can show up solo and immediately have people to sit with. Bring a blanket, bring some snacks or a drink, and come enjoy a night of Broadway music with the Hudson and the sunset behind it.
Just RSVP, find our spot, and say hi.

Where do we sit?
It's open lawn seating at Clinton Cove, so bring your own blanket (and a snack or drink if you'd like). The Field Trip group will gather in one spot so you can find us easily. (Details on how to find each other to come!)
Do people usually come alone?
Yes. Most attendees come solo, looking to meet other people who love theater around NYC.
How long does the event last?
Music starts at 6:30 PM. We'd suggest arriving 45-30 minutes early to settle in, find our lawn space, and meet the group before the performance begins.
Why this show?
It's free, it's outdoors on the water at sunset, and the talent is top-tier Broadway. A perfect easy night to meet other Field Trippers with zero pressure.
Anything to bring?
A blanket to sit on, plus any food, snacks, or drinks you want. The show itself is free.
