A Few Good Men + Happy Hour (11/12)
Before The West Wing launched a thousand walk-and-talks and The Social Network gave us all permission to talk very quickly about intellectual property law, Aaron Sorkin left an indelible mark on American storytelling with the breakout 1989 hit play A Few Good Men.
Now the first-ever Broadway revival arrives at Lincoln Center with Emmy winner Bradley Whitford as Lt. Colonel Nathan R. Jessep, marking another chapter in his decades-long creative partnership with Aaron Sorkin. Whitford made his Broadway debut as Lt. Jack Ross in the original production, so this is less a reunion than a homecoming with a promotion. Joining him is Tom Blyth, who will be making his Broadway debut as Lt. Daniel Kaffee. The production will run for 13 weeks only, directed by six-time Tony Award winner Michael Arden.
Military lawyer Daniel Kaffee has a gift for settling cases before they reach the courtroom, a talent that serves him well until it absolutely does not. When he is assigned to defend two Marines accused of murder, a sharp attorney named Lt. Commander JoAnne Galloway pushes him toward the truth, and the truth leads straight into a cover-up that implicates the entire chain of command. The dialogue is fast, the stakes are high, and somewhere in the middle of it all is the question of what happens when the system built to protect you demands your silence.
We'll meet for drinks and snacks nearby before the show, then settle in together. Field Trip events are intentionally small, so it's easy to actually meet people and have a real conversation.

We're in Loge row D, the elevated seating section at the Vivian Beaumont. The theater uses stadium-style seating with a thrust stage, which means clear sightlines from nearly everywhere.
Do people usually come alone?
Yes, most do. That is not the awkward exception here. It is more or less the entire premise.
How long does the event last?
We'll meet about an hour before the show for drinks. The show has not yet announced a runtmie.
Why this show?
This is the first-ever Broadway revival of Aaron Sorkin's seminal work, running for just 13 weeks at Lincoln Center.
